Frequently Asked Questions
About Ecofiltro
1. What is Ecofiltro?
Ecofiltro is a household water purifier made with natural materials: clay, activated carbon, and colloidal silver. It helps remove bacteria, parasites, sediment, cloudiness, unwanted taste, odor, and color from water.
2. What makes Ecofiltro different?
Ecofiltro uses gravity-based filtration, meaning it does not require electricity, plumbing, or complicated installation. Just fill the upper container and let the filter do the work naturally.
3. What materials are used in the filter?
Ecofiltro is made with clay, activated carbon, and colloidal silver. The clay helps trap sediments and particles, activated carbon improves taste and odor, and colloidal silver helps eliminate bacteria.
Water Quality
1. What types of water can I use with Ecofiltro?
Ecofiltro can be used with freshwater sources such as tap water, well water, rainwater, rivers, lakes, and springs. For rainwater, avoid using the first rainfall because it may be more acidic.
2. What should I do if the water is very cloudy or muddy?
Let the water sit in a separate container first so heavier particles can settle at the bottom. Then pour the clearer water from the top into your Ecofiltro. You can also use a clean cloth as a simple pre-filter.
3. Can I use chlorinated tap water?
Yes. Ecofiltro helps reduce residual chlorine from treated water. If the water has a strong chlorine smell or a milky appearance, let it sit for about 30 minutes before filtering.
Filtration Performance
1. How do I know Ecofiltro produces clean water?
Ecofiltro’s technology has been tested through thousands of laboratory tests. Its natural filtration system is designed to reduce bacteria, sediment, bad taste, odor, and other unwanted elements from water.
2. How much water can Ecofiltro produce per day?
A standard Ecofiltro can produce up to about 22 liters of purified water per day, depending on how often it is refilled. Smaller models may produce less.
3. Does every Ecofiltro model produce the same water quality?
Yes. Water quality does not depend on the model. All Ecofiltro purifiers are made under quality standards; the main difference between models is size and capacity.
4. Does Ecofiltro remove minerals from water?
No. Ecofiltro keeps naturally occurring minerals in the water, which helps maintain a balanced drinking experience.
5. Does Ecofiltro remove bacteria?
Yes. Ecofiltro is designed to remove 99.99% of bacteria using its combination of clay, activated carbon, and colloidal silver.
First Use
1. Can I drink the first water that comes out of Ecofiltro?
We recommend discarding the first 3 filtrations. The water is already filtered, but it may contain a natural clay taste from the new filter. You can use this first water for plants, cleaning, or washing fruits and vegetables.
2. How long does the clay taste last?
The natural clay taste usually lasts 3 to 5 days. The more you fill and empty the filter, the faster the taste goes away.
3. How long does it take to reach the normal filtration rate?
If you keep the filter filled, it usually reaches its regular filtration rate within 3 to 5 days.
Care & Maintenance
1. How full should I fill my Ecofiltro?
Fill the upper container to the recommended level. This helps prevent overflow and allows the filtration process to work properly.
2. Can Ecofiltro overflow?
If filled correctly, it should not overflow. Once the lower container is full, filtration naturally slows or stops until you dispense water.
3. Can I wash the filter with soap or chlorine?
No. Do not use soap, chlorine, bleach, or chemicals on the filter. Because the filter is porous, it can absorb chemicals and affect the taste of the water.
4. Can I put ice water or hot water into Ecofiltro?
We recommend using water at room temperature. Sudden temperature changes may affect the clay filter.
5. What if my Ecofiltro dries out?
Refill it and allow it to become fully saturated again. A clay taste may return for a few days, similar to when the filter was new.
Filter Life
1. How long does the Ecofiltro purifier last?
The purifier is designed to last 2 years. After that, we recommend replacing the filter to maintain performance.
2. Why should I replace the filter every 2 years?
Over time, activated carbon can become saturated, clay pores can clog with sediment, and the antibacterial properties of the colloidal silver may decrease.
3. Does the 2-year lifespan depend on how much water I filter?
No. Since Ecofiltro is always in contact with water, its lifespan is measured by time rather than total gallons filtered.
Health & Safety
1. Is the colloidal silver in Ecofiltro safe?
The amount of colloidal silver used in Ecofiltro is designed for safe water purification and is not expected to cause side effects.
2. Can pregnant or breastfeeding women drink Ecofiltro water?
Yes. Ecofiltro produces purified water that can be used by the whole family.
3. Are Ecofiltro plastic containers BPA-free?
Yes. Ecofiltro plastic containers are made with polypropylene and are designed for safe water storage.
